People Photography by Anna Phillips

I never used to consider myself a 'people person', generally steering more towards wildlife photography. Iin the past few years however I have participated in a number of projects which have required study of the human form.

The black and white images were taken for a university project in which I experimented with different types of photographic  lighting in a studio environment, using a medium format film camera and traditional and printing techniques to convey a sense of 'film noir'. Much of my People Photography involves characters whom I have met on my travels.

With portraiture I try to capture the personality of the person I am photographing, inviting the viewer into the scene so they can enjoy it in much the same way I did when I was there.
